Cat’s Out Of the F-ing Bag

Press release is out… care to read?

What happens when three of Sarasota’s movers & shakers start movin’ & shakin’ in rhythm with each other? Well, you are about to find out!
everything but the girl owner Laura Daniel Gale and Finch House founder and frontwoman of The Equines Erin Murphy have joined forces and are stirring things up in the Rosemary District, planning a cooperative effort that they feel is both innovative and necessary.
As EBTG approaches their sixth year anniversary, a reinvention is in the works. “As with any successful business, it is key to step back, reassess and redirect every once in a while. Almost three years ago, EBTG introduced Vintage Clothing to our collection of locally hand-crafted goods and it is been very successful for us,” says Laura Daniel Gale.
In the coming weeks, EBTG will transform once again. Partnering with local goddess/rock star Erin Murphy and her brother/Equines drummer, Mike Murphy, the future of 430 Central will be: “everything but the girl”, Sarasota’s premier vintage shop by day and “The Closet” live music venue by night. The space will transform from day to night for booked shows and even cross over at times with “shop & chill to great music” events.
Murphy says, “We are very excited to have the support from our shared community with EBTG. My brother and I discovered so many great small-scale and D.I.Y. spaces on our last tour. We wanted to bring that back home to our scene here in Sarasota.

We hope that music fans will view us as a destination to see consistently impressive bands hailing from all over the country; we’re confident that the intimate setting will translate into an electric atmosphere to experience great live music. “

The Murphys have booked many local and regional acts for upcoming shows at the Closet: Sons of Hippies, Cassolette, Alias Punch, the Pauses, the Broken Inn, The GetBye, and many more. The space will also host art shows and function as a rehearsal space for a variety of artistic mediums.

The grand opening party for the Closet is February 12. EBTG and the Closet will have an open house from 4 to 7pm featuring live painting from a handful of local artists. The Closet will host their kickoff blowout show at 8pm, featuring the Equines, Sparta Philharmonic, Fancy Rat, the Soulbirds, Amazon Woman, and other special guests.

“Basically, we just want the Closet to be a distinguishable take on the local ‘hang-out spot’ - we hope to keep the Sarasota arts scene intrigued and on its toes.”
